Residential buildings Pedagogen Park Molndal , Sweden

Pedagogen Park in Molndal, Sweden with combined glulam and steel load bearing structures was a great challenge for our engineers. 

One of the most complicated tasks was to create connections for the steel load bearing beams and wooden columns. For example, we used special screws and avoided welding as much as possible, which is quite unusual in heavy engineering. Also, the specific characteristics of wood had to be considered to minimize the risk of corrosion for the steel elements.

For the Pedagogen Park project, UPB provided the design and manufacturing of steel and concrete structures and the assembly of the structural elements, including wooden columns and other wooden parts. Some of the glulam columns have a height of more than 14 m – making the building look really amazing!
